After a severe wind and hailstorm swept through Lusby, MD, a home on Schooner Drive sustained notable roof damage. The storm compromised several components of the roofing system, making a complete roof replacement necessary. Our inspection confirmed extensive shingle damage and wear, prompting the installation of a new GAF Timberline HDZ roofing system in Pewter Gray, along with new 5″ white gutters.
The roofing team completed a full tear-off of the existing shingles and underlayment before installing the upgraded system. GAF HDZ Lifetime shingles were paired with synthetic underlayment, ice and water shield, aluminum drip edge, and Cobra III ridge vents to ensure long-term weather resistance and code compliance. Matching hip and ridge caps were added for both function and curb appeal.
As part of the scope, multiple accessories and upgrades were installed, including pipe jacks, step flashing, and sealants to fully waterproof the roof system. Three sheets of roof decking were replaced due to storm-related deterioration. To maintain product consistency, starter shingles, nails, fasteners, and matching paint and caulk were used throughout the build.
Additionally, existing roof ventilation was maintained and enhanced to support attic airflow, and all materials were installed according to manufacturer guidelines. The project also included a registered GAF Roof Warranty and a 5-Year Labor Warranty, offering long-term peace of mind for the homeowner.
